FINISHED ANOTHER EDITION OF THE COURSE "THE TOURIST ANIMATION ON SURF"

Last weekend, at Praia de Carcavelos, took place the 2nd Edition of the course “Tourist Animation in Surf” by the Portuguese Surf School Association, with the support of Clube Lombos Praia.

The course ran from Friday to Sunday and assigned to participants 5 Credit Units of the specific component for the revalidation of the coaches' cards. There were 25 hours of sharing between trainers and trainees with extensive experience and knowledge of surfing.

The creation of this training action arose from the consultation of operators, who identified the need to obtain training and knowledge in the area of tourism, in order to complement basic sports training. Since the vast majority of national operators have been developing the tourism product, this training will allow coaches, surf schools and surf camps to increase the competitiveness, quality and sustainability of the services provided.

The quality of the training team should be highlighted, with some of the main figures in terms of teaching, regulation and sustainability of surfing in Portugal, namely:

  • João de Macedo, big wave surfing legend and competitor of the WSL Big Wave Tour circuit.

  • João Diogo Pinto dos Santos, President of AESDP and one of the pioneers in surf education in Portugal.

  • Miguel Palma Ruivo, National Longboard Selector and one of the pioneers of surf teaching in Portugal.

  • Afonso Teixeira, Master in Sustainable Tourism Management, Executive Director of AESDP.

Overall rating and appreciation of the training, according to the participants:

8/10

“Well-organized training action in a central location for members”
