The first competition of this event promoted by the Municipality of Matosinhos, organized by the Association of Surfing Schools of Portugal, coincided with the first surfing championship at Praia do Cabo do Mundo and was an authentic surfing party.
Matosinhos Surf School Cup is a special championship, by teams and in tag-team format, with each Surf School being represented by a team of 5 elements. The first race took place at Praia do Cabo do Mundo, on a rainy day, but with a lot of consistency of waves.

During the day of the competition, there were also other parallel actions, promoted by the event's sponsors, such as a beach cleaning promoted by Sociedade Comercial C. Santos and the Municipality of Matosinhos, and a Fun Contest Deeply, consisting of 3 heats with softboard boards Deeply, where the most fun and creative wave was awarded a Surfskate.
