The form follows on from the Surf & Rescue project, which unites the Portuguese Surf School Association (AESDP) and the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos (ISN) and which took free training to Surf Schools coaches and technicians to 3 different points from the coast in September.
The Portuguese Surf School Association (AESDP) and the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos (ISN) have been collaborating in order to bring surfing closer to aquatic rescue along the entire national coast. The beginning of this partnership was marked by a set of training actions directed at Surf Schools and their employees, called Surf & Rescue, which took place in September in Costa da Caparica, Sagres and Matosinhos.
Although it is common knowledge that Surf Schools and Coaches, as well as the entire surfing community, make an important contribution to assisting people in danger on our beaches, these occurrences are often not registered. It is important to account for the true contribution that the surfing community in Portugal makes to water safety and rescue, and this form is intended to facilitate this registration.
This is a form intended not only for Surf Schools, but for everyone and everyone who practices surfing in waves who find themselves somehow involved in rescue situations or assistance to people in danger on the beaches.
The data collected through this form will be cross-checked with data from the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos and will include the annual reports of rescues carried out in Portugal, giving an increasing emphasis to the role of the surfing community.
