This second edition thus resumes at the end of the bathing season, with registration now open for the free training sessions that will take place on September 14th in Aljezur and September 21st in Figueira da Foz.
After the launch of this second year of Surf & Rescue in July, September marks the return of this initiative launched by the Portuguese Surf School Association (AESDP) and Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos (ISN), which combines surfing with water rescue .
In 2020, the Portugueses Surf School Association and the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos joined together, with the aim of enhancing the contribution that has already been given by Surf Schools in supporting drowning victims on beaches across the country. the country, mainly outside the bathing season and on unguarded beaches, where these operators are present throughout the year.
It was in this context that the Surf & Rescue initiative emerged, which consists of a series of training courses aimed at Surf School Coaches and technicians, in water rescue and rescue, first aid and Basic Life Support. Since its launch in September 2020, 5 of these free training actions have already taken place. Now, a year later, this number will increase with two more actions, in Arrifana beach on the 14th of September and in Cabedelo beach on the 21st of September.
Thanks to the support of the Municipalities of Aljezur and Figueira da Foz, these actions will not have any cost for the participants. This training is intended for Coaches and other members, employees and students of Surfing Schools and Clubs, lasts 7 hours and allocates 1.4 Credit Units for the renewal of the IPDJ Coaches Card. Due to the constraints imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the actions are limited to a total of 30 participants.
